Just to provide a little insight:





Some salons include shampooing because they want to give the customer the idea that they're getting special treatment or a better haircut. The price of the cut always reflects this because of backbar usage and extra time spent to shampoo it. Of course, washing it before has no effect on the quality of your haircut, but the consumer doesn't know that!!! It's also the best way to sell product. Booth rent salons are very product - driven.





Other salons don't include it to lower costs and time. Not everyone really wants a shampoo every time. When you add it up, usually a cut and shampoo at these places equals the same or more than a cut with shampoo included at the other salons.





It's all about marketing to your clientele.
I hate it. I hate sitting in the chair and bending backwards--it hurts my neck, and they always pull my hair. Usually the stylist does it. I can't remember the last time I had it washed at a salon--I don't go there--I do my own. I mess up a cut less than they do, and I bet in the last 5 years I've been to a salon 3 times. They always tell me to walk over to the sink so they can wash my hair first.

I Love the professional shampoos and conditioners, I can def tell a difference in how soft and shiny my hair is after getting it washed at the salon.

I'm a guy, and I've only had it done at fancy places. Ultimately, it's nice but it's not worth the money. I'm always going to go home and take a shower anyways, since I hate having hair all over me after a haircut.





Same with a professional shave. It's relaxing, but not worth the money all the time.





I did get both done the day before my wedding. That was more of a treat than anything else.
I get a haircut every 4-5 weeks and that includes a wash before the cut and after...including a wonderful scalp massage...ahhhhhhh. I'm due back next Thursday.





I've been going to the same wonderful stylist since 1991 and she does the shampoo, cut, shampoo again, and style.
