Which do you think would be more worth it?What would be best, Trying to go platinum @ a salon in one visit, or a month @ home?
I recently went from dark brown, almost black to bleach blonde, and I did it myself, mostly because the salon refused to do it because it couldn't be done without damage, I didn't badly damage my hair, it is damaged but its expected with going from dark to bleach blonde.
I used color oops (worst smelling stuff in the world) to get it to a non-dyed color, then I did two lightner products over the course of two days and then I dyed it blonde, worked out pretty well and it was much cheaper then getting it done, good luck to you for whatever you decide to do.What would be best, Trying to go platinum @ a salon in one visit, or a month @ home?
IMHO definitely go to the salon the first time. Tell them what you want and also(before they do anything to your hair) that you would like to be able to do your own touch-ups. If they don't agree to tell you exactly what product/color they will be using, go elsewhere until you find a salon that will tell you. Assure them that you will be using them for trims on a regular basis as well as any style and/or color changes in the future. Also, offer to recommend the salon to friends/family. Lastly, make sure you tip them well!
If platinum is just one or two shades lighter than your normal hair colour, by all means do it at home. However, if you are changing your hair colour more than a shade, definitely go to a salon. They have control over what colour you will get while a home effort cannot guarantee exactly what shade you will end up with. The amount of bleaching that you would do over the period of a month is major and the results would be unknown.
Once you go to the Salon you will have to continue as your hair grows since you do not have the same products that they use.
Doing it yourself at home would in the long run be cheaper, just make sure you get a good name brand.
Good Luck
Go to a salon going platinum can be tricky and they are the professionals and you can get it done faster.
